Our north star
THE GREATER GOOD
Freedom of speech is the tool. Understanding is the method. The greater good — a better future for everyone in the conversation — is the only goal.
Every part of Squash the Shitfuckery Square exists to help people think out loud, respect the perspective across from them, and turn private conviction into public progress. Nothing here is designed to addict, divide, or extract. It is designed to interconnect us toward something better.
Every feature serves the same purpose
Debate, commerce, community and creativity are not separate products here. They are different doors into the same room: people working out, in good faith, how to live better together.
The Square
Honest debate is how bad ideas die and better ideas are born. The goal is not to win; it is to leave the thread wiser than you entered it.
Circles & Pages
People who care about the same thing find each other, organize, and turn talk into action. A cause is stronger when it has a home.
World
Perspective is geographic as well as personal. Seeing who thinks what, where, makes the global conversation local and the local conversation global.
Petitions
When an argument is ready to become a demand, Kent and Elodie help shape it into lawful, jurisdiction-correct language addressed to the right power.
The Bazaar
Trade is a form of cooperation. Members exchange goods they no longer need, reducing waste and building trust between strangers who share the square.
Classifieds
Skills, services and honest work connect people who can help each other. A community that can employ itself is a community that can look after itself.
Singles
Relationships built on shared values and verified people, not algorithms or fake accounts. Adults only, mutual interest only, private by design.
Spotlight
A little applause for a moment shared. Vanity is human; here it is brief, positive, and never bought or sold.
Quiet support
The square stays free because members choose to fund it. No subscriptions, no paywalls, no voice-for-money. Giving keeps the ground level.
The greater good test
Before you post, propose, sell, sign or share, ask yourself one question:
“Does this move everyone in the conversation toward a better answer — or does it just make me feel like I won?”
If it is only about winning, it does not belong here. If it is about finding the better answer together, it does. That is the whole filter.
01
Good intentions
Come to understand and to build, not to wound or score.
02
Real names
Own your words. Conviction costs something when it has a name.
03
Better future
The aim is a future all involved can live with, not a victory.
